Thank you for visiting Glory's House. I want to share with you a few ways you can apply Appliques.
Appliques can be applied by sewing, glue, temporary glue or ironing.
How you want to apply an applique may determine your project.
If you need to wash you may want to use our Tack it over & over glue or a Glue that is washable such as "Ok to Wash" .
Tack it over glue allows you to remove the applique after it is applied. It holds very well on most fabrics and surfaces for a temporary hold. It allows you to remove the applique to wash the garment. This way you can use your appliques on other garments also!
Ok to wash is a permanent glue that will continue to hold when you hand wash a garment.
If you do not need to wash, my favorite glue to use is Aleene's thick tacky glue I enjoy using this glue because it is thick and easy to work with.
All appliques can be sewn on if you desire and some appliques can be applied by using a hot iron.
Our Hot Fix appliques have a plastic like backing that once hot will adhere to fabric. You can turn the applique or trim with backing facing up, lay your fabric on top where you wish to apply the applique and use a hot iron. It is very simple to do.
All of our TS, JB, XR, DH, N, HC appliques and trims are Hot Fix if they are not metal back embellishments. Metal back appliques and trims I would suggest sewing on.
Our items with catalog numbers beginning with zero or FS are glue on or sew on.
Not all of our GB items are iron on but many are. Most of our gold metallic and embroidered appliques are iron on.
An iron on applique can also be sewn on or glued on if you prefer. If they have our plastic like backing they are iron on appliques.
Our fabric back appliques you can sew or glue on.
Our metal back appliques are sew on only.
Many glues will work with our appliques. It also depends on what you are applying the applique to on how you will want to apply it.
It is wonderful the beauty you can create by applying an applique and so easy to do!
